CHALLENGE
We were appointed by independent retailer Hidla to create a beautiful oasis for all plant lovers. After acquiring a new double aspect bright space we were challenged to define the large space into zones to suit there offer including a space to home 'The Plant Hospital' where customers can receive advice and guidance, ensuring that each plant receives the love and care it deserves. A back of house area in the fully glazed exposed unit was needed for service but it was important to our client that the space remained inviting, warm and tactile. Hilda, passionate plant lovers themselves, wanted to create a space that not only celebrated the wonders of nature but also provided a sanctuary for plant enthusiasts.
APPROACH
The concept draws inspiration from traditional apothecaries and botanical gardens. A bright blue shopfront cuts through the busy street outside, inviting passersby to step into a world where plant health takes centre stage.
Charming ambience was created with limewash-painted walls with thoughtfully designed, moveable tiered central units that allow for flexibility in showcasing products. The central focus of the space is a portal archway, softened by curtains, it creates a unique focal point, yet provides a private back of house area that can easily be screened off or opened out to allow for events. Materials throughout the space were considered carefully and specified for their sustainability value.
RESULTS
As a plant boutique sustainability and style go hand in hand. The space offers more than just a visual feast, it provides a full sensory experience from being greeted to earthy aroma of fresh soil, soothing aesthetics to being greeted by knowledgeable staff who can guide customers through their extensive selection of greenery.
