Project

Hula Juice Bar + Healthy Eatery

Client

Hula

Hula presented an opportunity to refresh and re-energise a much-loved brand in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Grassmarket. Having occupied the site for a number of years, the team wanted to evolve their image and introduce a new interior identity that felt brighter, more contemporary and reflective of Hula’s feel-good approach to healthy food and drink.

Set within a historic building on one of Edinburgh’s most iconic and photographed streets, the design intentionally contrasts old and new. The concept brings modern warmth, rich colour and a pop of sunshine into the space, creating an uplifting atmosphere from the moment guests arrive. A contemporary botanics theme runs throughout, anchored by a bold abstract illustration that creeps playfully from wall to ceiling, adding energy, movement and impact.

Banquette seating in deep, saturated tones sits alongside carefully considered lighting, bringing warmth and depth to the interior while maintaining a relaxed, informal feel. The service counter and seating layout were designed to support both quick grab-and-go visits and longer, more leisurely stays, allowing the space to flex naturally throughout the day.

The result is a café that feels fresh, optimistic and full of life. A modern sanctuary within a historic setting. Hula now offers a joyful contrast to the Grassmarket surroundings, delivering a bright, health-focused experience that continues to attract both locals and visitors alike.
